Nursing
homes are designed to serve usually elderly patients
who require long-term, therapeutic and preventive care.
Residents normally have non-acute medical conditions
and are frail but not bedridden. They may need canes
or walkers to help them get around and aid with everyday
tasks such as eating, dressing and washing. Designing
a room or bed-sit for an older person is best achieved
by placing yourself in that person's shoes and by thinking
through how to compensate for the possible limitations
imposed upon their lifestyle. You don't want to be too
pessimistic, but it also pays to plan for days when
the person's capacities could be reduced. Modular Homes
are not those old trailers you see in mobile home parks
or low income housing shelters. Gone are the early days
of temporary looking structures, modular housing construction
has undergone a designing renaissance over the last
decade.
Today, modular homes are
the latest trendy way to own an exclusive home in a
style that you will enjoy - all at a fraction of the
cost of a traditional home. So often I have found that
people have seen a design in a magazine, or in a model
home, thought it was beautiful, and then either tried
to duplicate it or hired an interior decorator to give
them that look. More often than not, they are dissatisfied
with the final outcome, either because they are uncomfortable
in their new surroundings, or they have lost functionality,
or they have overspent and are now house poor. |
